Image-Enabled Health Information Exchanges (HIEs) Transform Patient Care
Rochester, N.Y., August 14, 2020 – eHealth Technologies, the leading provider in image-enabled HIEs will be exhibiting as a sponsor of the 2020 Strategic Health Information Exchange Collaborative (SHIEC) Annual Conference that will be held virtually from August 17 to September 15, 2020.
Diagnostic imaging consumes over 10% of all healthcare costs, elevating the importance of image sharing capabilities for health systems around the country. There is also tremendous value that imaging plays in both diagnosing and treating many diseases.
eHealth Connect® Image Exchange allows clinicians to share imaging studies for immediate community-wide access by referring physicians and other specialists through their health information exchange (HIE) or electronic medical record (EMR) system.
- Providers can view images anywhere, anytime in full diagnostic quality within the context of a results report, CCD or any other medical record from an HIE portal, EMR, or any other system.
- Clinicians can readily access all images from all locations across the community with one click, view and/or compare in a common viewing session without first having to import to a local system or transfer to the cloud.
- Collaboration by way of real-time image session sharing with participating HIE care providers is possible anywhere, anytime with a single click.
The latest offerings from eHealth Technologies include Transfer-to-PACS, Emergent, and Automated Imaging Workflows.
With Transfer-to-PACS workflow, HIE users can import and reconcile external images from anywhere in the community directly to their PACS with a single click from their HIE interface. Automating this process through an HIE eliminates the cost of manually reconciling studies before they can be imported; burning, transporting, and uploading studies from physical media; and maintaining complex point-to-point connections.
Emergent image sharing through HIEs expedites critical patient care for stroke, trauma, and other critical conditions. For critical care of stroke or trauma patients, providers can initiate real-time, potentially life-saving imaging consultations with specialists anywhere in the world. With a single click, images can instantly be shared to get a second opinion, consult with a specialist, or prepare for transferring a critical emergency patient to an advanced care facility. This newest eHealthConnect® Image Exchange capability can dramatically improve patient outcomes by impacting the speed and quality of care.
Automated Imaging Workflow allows users to automatically identify and retrieve external relevant images from every connected facility across the community. Images are delivered into a local PACS or imaging system in advance of when they are needed with no time and labor required. This solution eliminates virtually ALL manual steps required to obtain prior images, helping clinicians provide faster treatment with accurate and more complete patient information.
“We are thrilled to support SHIEC, a national collaborative representing health information exchanges and their strategic business and technology partners, especially for this new virtual format,” stated Gary Larson, Executive Vice President, General Manager, HIE Solutions at eHealth Technologies. “Improving health care delivery through image-enabled HIEs has many benefits for both clinicians and patients, including streamlined workflows, faster diagnosis and treatment plans, and eliminating repeat testing. We look forward to connecting with HIE leaders during the conference to discuss key benefits of efficient image delivery and how they impact patient care.”
